NEW AEON JUSCO MELAKA OPENS TODAY

The new Aeon Jusco Melaka has been opened. Due to an unfortunate incident, the opening in December 2009 had to be postponed until today.

Located at Pringgit, next to Tesco Melaka, Jusco Melaka is the second Jusco mall in Melaka. The earlier one is sited at Bukit Baru. The new one is very much bigger.

Certainly, the half of Malacca will be there to view and check out the premises. Being the newest kid in the block, the new shopping mall will draw crowds prior the Chinese New Year next weekend.

NEW MELAKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AT BATU BERENDAM, MELAKA OFFICIALLY OPENED

Webmaster: Luckily, the historic Batu Berendam airport terminal has been retained. This airport was the first stop by our first prime minister who came back from Britain after obtaining Malaya Independence in February 1956.
Why not convert the old terminal into an aviation museum which register the historic trip back to Malaya by our first prime minister?

Ong launches CNY carnival in Malacca

MALACCA: More than 10,000 people gathered along Jalan Kubu and Jonker Walk here for the launching of the state’s month-long Chinese New Year carnival by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

The ceremony on Saturday night was made more auspicious with Ong given the honour of inscribing the Chinese character Wang – meaning king – onto the frame of the largest lion head in the country to mark the start of festivities here.

New UiTM Campus In Melaka To Be Completed In 2013
JASIN, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- A new Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) campus costing RM300 million will be built in Seri Mendapat, Semujuk, here, replacing an earlier proposal to build it in Serendah, Rawang, Selangor.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the campus, with a capacity of 5,000 students, would be built on a piece of land belonged to Melaka Foundation and expected to be completed in 2013.

Melaka Government Offers To Take Over Management Of Airport Terminal

MELAKA, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government has expressed interest to take over the management of the new RM190 milion international airport terminal in Batu Berendam here.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the state government and its partner, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, had forwarded the offer to the present operator, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

During the colonial times, the Chettiars were mainly dependent on the credit business for living, and their credit companies expanded all over Singapore, Melaka, Hong Kong and other places, and were among the principal economic activities during those years.

Organ donor girl’s body cremated in Malacca

MALACCA: The remains of 21-year-old Sandra Wong May Yue (pic), whose corneas and marrow went to give others a new lease on life after her death in a road accident last Thursday, have been cremated.

The ceremony at the Jelutong funeral parlour yesterday was a poignant affair attended by at least 100 family members and friends.
