Tan Sri Rafie Mahat passes away today

It is with profound sadness that we have to inform all MHS Alumni members that Tan Sri Abdul Rafie Haji Mahat passed away this morning in Kuala Lumpur.

Tan Sri served Malacca High as her 30th. principal from March 15th. 1985 until 1990. He later retired as the Chairman of Education Service Commission.

Though Tan Sri was not educated in Malacca High, but his tenure in Malacca High as the first Malay principal, was able to see the aura of Malacca High School.

Green Cafe Terrace @ HSOBA, Melaka is now Opened

As informed earlier, a cafe named Green Cafe Terrace @ HSOBA Melaka Club House is now opened for business.

This cafe was opened in January 2007 and all ex-MHS Alumni members are invited to visit this new cafe and patronise this new outlet. You can enjoy yourselves at this cafe by having coffee or tea. Food is also served.

You can either sit inside the cafe or outside where you can view the field of Malacca High School.

Why not check out this place when you are back in Melaka.

MHS Class of 1976 Reunion 0n 7.7.07

March 2007
The MHS Class of 1976 will be holding their Reunion in Melaka on 7th. July 2007. All ex-MHS 76 Alumni are invited to attend this function.

Form mates and Classmates from overseas such as Hong Kong and other countries are expected to attend.

MHS 180th.Anniversary Commemorative Book

MHS 180TH. Anniversary Commemorative Book Launch was carried out on Saturday, 9th. December 2006 at Shah's Village Hotel from 3.00pm to 5.30pm.

More than 100 ex-MHS Alumni members and invited guests were present to witness this auspicious launch.

The launch was done to highlight the 2 years of work done by MHS Anniversary, the publisher of the MHS 180th. Anniversary Book.

MHS Alumni (1974) Fund Raising Party on Monday 2nd Oct 2006

Dear All

As mentioned there will be an event Party Animals Night on Monday 2nd Oct 2006 at the Tavern, Guiness Anchor Berhad.

The event has two objectives:
1) A fun event for the old boys or group of friends
to get together again this year, reminisce their good old
days and keep the bonds of friendship strong.
2) Proceeds from the event to be channeled to charity - in
this case, the Malacca SPCA, which needs about RM500K to
build its new shelter at Paya Ikan.

We are charging a very affordable entrance fee of RM60 each

MHS CLASS OF 1970 REUNION IN 2008

22nd. August 2006

Malacca High School Class of 1970 will be organising their Reunion in 2008. Time and place will be notified as the event draws closer.
www.malaccahigh.net reporter was informed recently that the Reunion is to be held when the Classmates of 1970 turns 55 i.e. their retiring age. Classmates from Australia, UK, USA, Singapore and other countries are expected to attend this reunion.

This Reunion was mooted recently when a group of classmates of 1970 had a gathering during the Chinese New Year in
2006.

Ex-Malacca High pupils conferred PJN by Agung Honours' List 2006

Our congratulations to Prof. Dr. Ow Chee Seng and Datuk Dr. Victor Wee Eng Lye for being conferred the Panglima Jaya Negara(PJN) by the Agung on 3rd. June 2006. Both were listed on the King's Birthday Honours List.

Prof.Dr.Ow Chee Seng was the Head Prefect of Malacca High School in 1968 and the Band Captain of the Malacca High School Cadet Band. Also, Prof. Dr. Ow Chee Seng is the current President of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia.

MHS first Clinical Psychologist??

T.K. Kang was born in Malacca in November 1957. He began his primary education in Bandar Hilir English School (BHES) from 1964 to 1969. He then studied in Malacca High School from 1970 to 1976 before pursuing his degree course in Psychology at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England from 1979 to 1981. He went to Hong Kong in 1982 and obtained a professional Master's degree in Clinical Psychology

He has worked in Hong Kong since 1982 and is currently a Student Counsellor at the University of Hong Kong.

Alvin Quah or Quachee of Melaka was schooled in BHES from 1988-1993, MHS from 1994-2000; F4 & 5 Sc1, L6 & U6 Arts 4,
Nanyang Technology University,Singapore from 2001-2004 and graduated with B.Acc in 2004.
