Razak Leman's Death A Big Loss For Malaysian Hockey

MELAKA, May 4 (Bernama) -- The death of former national hockey star Razak Leman following a heart attack yesterday is a big loss to Malaysian hockey sport, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Razak, who played for Malaysia in the 1970's, had contributed much to the development of the sport in the state and country, said Mohd Ali.

"Let us all pray that Allah blesses his soul," he told reporters after paying his respect at Razak's home in Banda Kaba, here Sunday.

A group of students from Malacca High School who turn 50 this year has decided celebrate the occasion.

As such, the group is trying to contact Malacca High classmates and schoolmates who were in Form 5 in 1975 and Upper Six in 1977.

The group is organising a reunion dinner for this particular batch of students on July 12 at the Equatorial Hotel in Malacca.

Malacca High School Arts stream top scorer Kerk Sin Yee from SMK Tinggi Melaka (B), was inspired by one of her seniors, was among the top STPM scorers last year.

The former editor of her school magazine, "The Optimist" plans to apply to Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

She was one of the top achievers in the national level as well.
